The Hockey Canada Checking Review Committee was composed of:

• Marcel Redekop (Vice-Chair At Large, Hockey Canada Board)
• Claude Allain (President, Hockey Quebec)
• Tom Donovan (President, Hockey New Brunswick)
• Al Hubbs (President, Saskatchewan Hockey Association)
• Frank Osborne (Chair, Hockey Canada Minor Council)
• Scott Robinson (Executive Director, Hockey Alberta)
• Scott Smith (VP, Business Operations, Hockey Canada)
• Paul Carson (Director, Development, Hockey Canada)

The Hockey Canada Checking Review Committee was formed by Hockey Canada Officers to:

• Review research and position papers related to checking in minor hockey
• Frame the issues
• Build a Checking Workshop for the Hockey Canada 2003 AGM

The Workshop at the 2003 Hockey Canada AGM has as it’s main objectives:

• To discuss the questions that frame the issue, as determined by the Hockey Canada Checking Review Committee
• To identify additional questions (if any)
• To prioritize the questions
• To identify data and information required to answer the issue questions and ultimately the Review question
• To create opportunities for external partnerships to assist the review, collection, and summary of data. (Medical community, Research community, Sports science community, Parent advisory groups, Media, Others)
• To create opportunities for internal partnerships to assist the review, collection, and summary of data (Branches, councils, Hockey Canada and branch staff)

Discussion will revolve around a series of questions developed by the Hockey Canada Checking Review Committee. The questions address several issues that surround the introduction of checking in minor hockey.
