Kurtis McLean, Shawn Heins and J-P Vigier scored the goals, but it wasn’t
enough as the Belarusian side ended Canada’s championship hopes. The Canadians took the loss despite a 48-24
advantage in shots.

Jean-Guy Trudel and Shawn Heins scored the goals for Canada, but a four-goal
second period by the German side was enough to hand the Canadians their first loss in three Spengler
games.

Mark Bell scored twice and J-P Vigier and Jean-Guy Trudel had a goal and an
assist apiece as Canada earned a victory over the Spengler Cup host side. Wade Dubielewicz made 31 saves to
record the win.

Serge Aubin scored the game-winner in a shootout to help the Canadians skate
away with a 7-6 win over Czechoslovakia-based team Energie Karlovy Vary on the opening day of The Spengler
Cup.

Five players – Wade Dubielewicz, Michel Ouellet, Cory Pecker, Mike Siklenka and
Jean-Guy Trudel – have been added to Canada’s roster for the Spengler Cup, which now include 25 players. »

MACTAVISH TO COACH
AT SPENGLER CUP
Craig MacTavish will lead Canada’s entry into the 2009 Spengler Cup, which will
be held December 25-31, 2009 in Davos, Switzerland. Sean Simpson and Doug Shedden will be the assistants. »
